This Speed of Sound Kit includes everything you need to measure the speed of sound in the classroom. The Fast Timer included can be used in many other experiments

This kit provides a direct method to measure the speed of sound. Timing to microsecond accuracy is started and stopped as sound passes the microphones (see diagram in the product images). A small hammer and metal plate is included in the kit to make the necessary sharp sound.

The Fast Timer, when used with mechanical start/stop gates, has many other applications e.g. in the measurement of g by free-fall.
