Philip Harris Foundation Physics - Pendulum
Philip Harris Foundation Physics - Pendulum
Product code: GP00054184
Product Description
Foundation Physics - Pendulum
Please Note: The Foundation Physics Universal Stand is not included and will need to be purchased separately using code PP00054183.
- The Foundation Physics range centres around the Universal Stand and includes accessories which allow a wide range of experiments to be conducted. Each add-on includes a comprehensive instructional guide with student tasks which are linked to the curriculum. The Universal Stand is required for each add-on.
The Foundation Physics Pendulum, when used with the Foundation Physics Universal Stand (available separately), enables users to adjust the string length and the mass of a pendulum. A large protractor makes angle measurements easy to read, and a photogate system could be attached at the bottom of the swing arc to record the period.
The Pendulum includes:
- Protractor backboard
- String, pendulum
- Mounting screw
- Instructions.
- Teacher's Guide
- Students Guide
Additional apparatus required:
- Foundation Physics Universal Stand
- Balance
- Photogate System
- Meter Ruler
- Combine with the Foundation Physics Universal Stand (available separately) to teach around and demonstrate Motion and Forces.
- Suitable for staff and student use.
- The Foundation Physics range centres around the Universal Stand and includes accessories which allow a wide range of experiments to be conducted. Each add-on includes a comprehensive instructional guide with student tasks which are linked to the curriculum.
- Key Stage 3 Physics - Energy: Other processes that involve energy transfer: changing motion, dropping an object, completing an electrical circuit, stretching a spring, metabolism of food, burning fuels
- Key Stage 3 Physics - Motion and Forces: Forces being needed to cause objects to stop or start moving, or to change their speed or direction of motion (qualitative only). Forces: associated with deforming objects; stretching and squashing – springs; with rubbing and friction between surfaces, with pushing things out of the way; resistance to motion of air and water. Non-contact forces: gravity forces acting at a distance on Earth and in space, forces between magnets, and forces due to static electricity.
- Key Stage 4 Physics - Motion & Forces: Conservation of energy. Factors affecting the period of a pendulum. Calculating gravity. Conservation of Mechanical Energy
Activities could include:
- Introduction to conservation of energy
- Factors affecting the period of a pendulum
- Calculating gravity
- Conservation of Mechanical Energy
The Foundation Physics Universal Stand is not included with the Pendulum. It is available to purchase separately.
