Product Description
Find out which metal conducts heat best by placing a small amount of wax at the tip of each rod and heating from beneath in the centre using a tea light candle (not included).
Pack includes:
- A small block of wax
- Rods of aluminium, bronze, steel, nickel and copper.
- Key Stage 3 - 4 Physics: Heat and Radiation: Thermal expansion
- Mount the handle in a retort stand and position so that the centre of the apparatus is over the flame from a tea light.
- Vaseline also works as an alternative to wax.
- A drawing pin or similar could be attached to the end of each rod using vaseline or wax and this gives an audible indication of when the rods are heated.
